                               UPDATED MAY 30th, 2007

I thought that I might make this post here to give members a chance to find help for answers to some common questions or problems that have recently come up when they find themselves using RM on one of their favorite trackers. This post will evolve and continue to be updated when warranted.

Feel free to PM me if you find that some info should be added or altered to this list. Please ensure that you describe the solution that is tracker-RM related specifically to me as I don't want to place in information that is vague and difficult for others to understand when it comes to some of the common problems encountered.

A lot of the info that this post will cover is also inside the forums.....you just need to look for it as there are volumes of info here.

You also want to go to the HOW TO USE RATIOMASTER inside the Guides and Tutorial section to understand how each of the settings work. That is a very handy guide.

This guide was made with the participation of "12345B"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most common reason for stats not updating on trackers:

    * The user is cheating (a.k.a. "Summary Ban") and have been banned after being found out.
    * The server is overloaded and unresponsive. (Flooding the server with consecutive manual updates is not recommended.).
Open RM another time and try then. This is a common problem that has been encountered while using RM, even with your regular BT Client you may encounter this problem.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why am I listed as not connectible in the log file while using RM?

The tracker has determined that your BT client is firewalled or NATed and cannot accept incoming connections. Even though you are not using a BT client and using RM instead, ensure that you give RM firewall and anti-virus access. Also, open RM and go to NETWORK TAB>MISC and select all three options. Go to Advanced Tab and make sure that "Update Peer ID and key on start up" is selected.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The log reports the following:  Started TCP listener on port XXXXXX
                                           Connecting to tracker: XXXXXXXXX
                                           Failed connection attempt: 1, 2, 3, etc....
                                           Exception: XXXXXXXXX

Its believed that it is not a software problem, moreso an internet connection on your end.  This is evidenced when you also have the following message in your log reports:

                                          Checking for new version...
Error checking new version : Can't connect to server

Go to this thread here to find out more. Pay particular attention to the last post made by "WhyNot" for a potential solution to this problem.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The log report states the following: "Failed to open Tcp Listener: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted"

You cannot connect to the tracker with both your BT client and RM at the same time. The log report is telling you that you cannot connect through the same port with two different softwares....use either your BT client or RM.

Also, in the NETWORK TAB>MISC section, ensure that all options are selected.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you get a pop up window that states:

The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application

You'll need to install .NET FRAMEWORK. You may install .NET FRAMEWORK v3.* as this has also been known to work well with RM software.

You may be able to get it here

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got banned at XXXXXXX tracker while running both my client and RM
on the same tracker.

This is highly not recommended. Unless you know and understand what your doing with the software, don't try this. You may however, connect to a tracker with your genuine BT client and connect to another tracker with RM.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The .torrent file [as per log report] is not recognized by the tracker while using RM.

Make sure that the .torrent file belongs to that specific tracker that you downloaded the torrent file from.

Do not spoof a torrent file to another tracker from which the .torrent file did not originate from that tracker as you'll get yourself banned quickly.

Do not make your own .torrent file with software such as MakeTorrent and expect it to be spoofed by RM to a tracker when you get log reports that concern themselves with connection issues. Go here to understand what I'm talking about. Read from page one.

Read the entire thread to understand what I'm talking about. Then come back here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do I need to emulate the same BT client that I used on a tracker with RM?

yes, absolutely.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are leechers present on the tracker that I'm UL'ing [or DL'ing] at, but my UL [or DL] speeds in RM is not indicating any activity.

In my experience, if you take out all values, including any zeros in GENERAL TAB>Options, you should get desired reporting inside RM.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When using RM with a proxy, how is it that I am not getting desired results, either with stats reporting, or with establishing a connection to a tracker?

Currently, RM does not work well with a proxy. I would recommend using the uTrator software packages in the Software section of the forums. You might have more success with those.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am getting a 4XX error code. What is the problem?

If you get a 4XX error code, go to this post here for more information.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your having the following error reported in your log reports:

                                                Tracker Error: invalid peer_id

You need to make sure that the .torrent file belongs to the correct tracker and that you also used the exact same BT client for that tracker. For example, if you used uTorrent v1.7 v1703 to DL, use the same CLIENT FILE and not v1672. In Advaced tab ensure you select "update peer id and key on startup"

Be aware that this also happens with genuine BT clients too, try re-downloading the .torrent file, make sure your firewall isn't interfering with any activity. You can do this by allowing RM access via "application control" through any 3rd party firewall you have including the default Windows firewall.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You UL speed does not change. It may stay at zero occasionally.

The reason for this is due to the fact that there are currently no leechers present on the tracker your present at.   If there are no leechers, then there is no upload. RM emulates the same way as a genuine BT client does on UL and DL activities.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You keep getting the following response while using RM: "Too many announces. please set your announce interval correctly or use a proper client"

The problem that is occuring in this particular situation is that you are selecting "Manual Update" much too often.
It is strongly advised that you do not use "Manual Update" when using the software. Let RM do the work for you while emulating your client. Your genuine BT client announces itself to the tracker at predefined announce internals, so RM does the same thing.
RM has a built-in connect and announce function and it occurs every 1800 secs. The more often you select this function, the more times RM
[while emulating your BT client] is connecting and announces itself to the tracker. You risk getting yourself banned if you select this option too often. You do not even need to alter the amount of announce intervals.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you getting the following response: "Tracker Response Empty":

You need to ensure that you are neither uploading nor downloading simultaneously using your genuine client and RatioMaster.
Also, ensure that you have selected "Ignore Tracker Failure Response"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are getting the following response from the tracker:

Client out of date or banned client.

The answer to this is quite simple.
You need to use the exact same CLIENT file that you used to download the .torrent files with from the tracker used with your genuine bittorrent client and emulate the exact same CLIENT file inside RM. For an example of this, read this thread here.
