Author Topic: NTSC -> PAL Converter  (Read 1028 times)

I thought this could be a good spot to ask about this, since I haven't been able to find any "reliable" information anywhere concerning this.

I got myself a PAL PS2 alongside a PAL Tv (I'm not so fancy so that it'll run NTSC), and I was wondering if there were any way to convert or "re-encode" NTSC downloaded PS2 games to PAL so that I would actually get some colors on the game Smiley

I've seen a few utilities out there, which claims to do the trick by "patching" the image files, but none of them have worked so far, so I'm kinda desperate at this point.

Anyone with some info on this?

How about getting it chipped like a real man would Grin Grin Grin. I believe that makes the ps2 region free. There are also swapdiccs that render your ps2 region free arn't there. Failing that get yourself a new telly or an xbox. Grin Grin.

no, the problem is on his TV. He needs to play PAL games in order to play properly on PAL TV.
cheapest solution is to buy TV that's capable of both playing NTSC and PAL format...if you don't mind small size that is...
Otherwise just get VGA box and play your console with PC monitor.

I've found out my problem Smiley

I was already in possession of Swap Magic to play the imported NTSC games, but I found out how old they actually were lol. The DVD disc were v2.0 and with the newest one being v3.6 it was time to get it changed. The newer versions has got a NTSC/PAL emulator, so that even on a PAL Tv you can play NTSC no problem by setting the options in Swap Magic correct Cheesy

I never got it chipped since Swap Magic did the trick for me in the early days (before I started downloading ntsc games), but that's in the past now and I don't want to spend any cash on this damn machine, although I have to get a new controller since it broke last night lol.

Thanks for the responses, and if I had the cash I would have gotten an xbox already Wink

Squall honestly... you should realise by now that I am the funky grand master of chipping and everything console mod related Grin Grin Grin. It is usually the console that is at  fault as it wont let you play a different regions games. As I suspected swap magic can fix this. So  Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue

LOL

Oh and if all else fails there are ntsc to pal converters that plug into your tv.
